Ramadhan craft projects for you to try at home:
Home made play dough:
There are loads of different recipes for Play Dough, we decided to go for the easiest, because its less time consuming, and everyone can join in!
We used this recipe CLICK HERE, we chose to cook our play dough, but you can always follow the same recipe only mix and knead instead, both take roughly the same amount of time, and it doesn’t make any difference to the dough its self.
We also had some trouble finding cream of Tartar, you can use substitute of 1/2 baking powder, 1/2 Bicarb, but we opted out and used none because again,it makes no difference to the dough although it keeps longer when you use cream of tartar.
Basic ingredient ratios:
2 cups flour
2 cups warm water
1 cup salt
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
1 Tablespoon cream of tartar (optional for improved elasticity)
food coloring (liquid, powder, or unflavored drink mix)
scented oils
Ramadhan sadaqah box (Ka’bah)
You’ll need:
- Cardboard box (a PG tips box is the perfect size!)
- Acrylic paints in, White/Brown and black
- Crepe paper in black and gold (Yellow does the job just fine)
- And last but not least some Sadaqah to fill!
Ramadhan calender chart:
You’ll need: Coloured card, PVA glue, Glitter (or you could use glitter pens), paint to decorate and scissors to cut out all the peices.
Ramadhan sun catcher villiage:
You’ll need: Coloured card, crepe paper OR tissue paper, and loose glitter.
Ramadhan Fanous Lamps:
You’ll need: Coloured card, crepe paper, loose glitter OR glitter pens, and a pen knife to cut out your design (Remember to ask an adult for help!).
And you can find the cut out pattern HERE

I saw the first two projects on your mum’s blog – impressive masha’Allah! Love the little lamps too, what a cool idea!
We usually “fanoos”-es but these are different. Might give them a go. Our’s are the cylindrical ones with vertical slits type
That Ka’ba box is BRILLIANT masha’Allah! I don’t have brown/black paper or paint though and I don’t think I could persuade hubby to take us to the bookstore/craft shop again. Not just yet anyway.
